Steiner Optics have released a new line of hunting scopes, the Steiner H6Xi series. There are three variants in the line up which include 2-12×42, 3-16×50 and 5-30×50. Cut from the same cloth as the T6Xi series, the H6Xi scopes are aimed at hunters looking for a tough scope combined with good glass for their hunting rifle.
Quick Take
The Steiner H6Xi is best judged by how it fits the rifle, not just by the spec sheet. Glass quality, reticle design, controls, mounting height and real-world use matter more than chasing one big headline number.
- Best use case: match the optic to the rifle?s actual job before worrying about brand hype.
- Check before buying: reticle style, eye relief, turret feel, weight and mounting requirements.
- Do not forget the mount: good rings and correct height are part of the optic system.

This series are made in the USA and what immediately stands out to me is that the MIL/MRAD fans will be disappointed as the H6Xi series are only coming out in MOA. Steiner have indicated the MHR-MOA reticle will be used on all variants in the series in the first focal plane. It’s a very similar reticle to my current hunting reticle in the Maven Optics RS.3. It’s a simple reticle and provides an uncrowded imprint when looking down the scope and well suited to hunting.

The turrets are also well suited for hunting with a low profile similar to the T6Xi. There is also a deep knurling on the turrets to help make adjustments more easily. The windage turret is capped and the elevation turret is exposed. Parallax adjustment is listed as 25 yards minimum out to infinity. As any high end hunting optic should be, the scope is waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof.

Overall there are some good magnification ranges providing a few different options for hunters. Having extensively used the T6Xi series I am sure the glass and build quality in the H6Xi will be the same excellent standard. It would have been good to see these with some MIL reticle options, maybe they will release them in the future.

FAQ
Is the Steiner H6Xi worth it?
The Steiner H6Xi is worth considering if its magnification, reticle, glass quality and adjustment system match how you actually shoot. For hunting, the biggest question is whether it gives you a clearer aiming solution than the optic you would otherwise buy.
Who is the Steiner H6Xi best suited to?
It suits shooters who want an optic for hunting and are willing to choose based on real features rather than brand name alone. Check the reticle, turret layout, weight and warranty before deciding.
What should I compare with the Steiner H6Xi?
Compare it against optics in the same role and price bracket. Look closely at glass clarity, turret tracking, reticle usability, low-light performance, weight and how easy it is to get support or accessories locally.
