Owning a few Italian made historical firearms, I keep an eye on the latest interesting releases from these companies. Davide Pedersoli who are best known for recreating classic flintlocks, percussion rifles, and Old West rifles have released a neat modern pump action rifle. Pump’s and lever actions are popular choices here in Australia due to the restrictions on semi-auto firearms.
Quick Take
The Pedersoli Jackal .44 is best judged by its practical role rather than hype. Look at how it handles, how it is configured, what kind of shooting it realistically suits, and whether the platform makes sense for your use case.
- Check the intended role: hunting, range use, competition and collection value are different buying reasons.
- Look past the headline specs: ergonomics, trigger feel, weight and support matter in real use.
- Think about the full setup: optics, mounts, bipod, case and ammunition choice all affect the end result.

Unveiled at Shot Show 2025, the Pedersoli Jackal is chambered in .44 Magnum and features a grey cerakote finish with a walnut stock and foregrip. The tube magazine holds a total of 6 rounds of .44 Magnum. The rifle has a rubber butt pad on the stock that should help soak up some of the recoil. There’s a conveniently placed tang safety on top too.

The 19” barrel is threaded and has a fiberoptic front and rear sight. The rifle weighs in at 7.7lbs / 3.49kg which doesn’t make it too difficult to carry around on foot. With that weight I wouldn’t have a problem adding a small red dot sight to it also, which shouldnt be hard with the included pic rail on top.

The price bracket will likely be difficult for most to navigate with the Jackal retailing for around 2000 USD its not a cheap setup. But from my experience with Pedersoli firearms you are getting what you pay for in quality. For me, the appeal is the high quality pump action alternative to using a lever action. I have owned and used several lever action rifles and shotguns for a very long time, but the satisfaction of running a pump can be a welcome change.

FAQ
Who is the Pedersoli Jackal .44 best suited to?
The Pedersoli Jackal .44 makes the most sense for shooters looking at field or range use. Focus on the action type, stock or chassis layout, magazine system and overall weight before deciding whether it fits your style of shooting.
What should I compare with the Pedersoli Jackal .44?
Compare it with rifles built for the same job, not just rifles at the same price. Barrel profile, trigger quality, stock adjustability, magazine compatibility, spare parts and local support all matter.
What scope setup suits the Pedersoli Jackal .44?
Match the optic to the rifle’s intended use. A lighter hunting rifle usually wants a simpler, lighter scope, while a precision or target rifle can justify more magnification, better turrets and a more detailed reticle.
