There’s a new rimfire precision rifle shipping out to dealers across the US, the Christiensen Arms Modern Precision Rifle Rimfire. The rifle has options in .17HMR, .22LR and .22WMR and takes after the popular centerfire version which is on our list as one of the best out of the box precision rifles available today.
Rimfire’s are cheap to run and great fun for target shooting. For a long time this category has been dominated by the Ruger Precision Rimfire (RPR), its great to see another chassis based rimfire precision rifle entering the market. I have no doubt that the MPR rimfire will be a bit higher quality than the RPR due it coming in at a larger price point and with some of its extra features.
Some neat features of the rifle include the three shot sub MOA guarantee at 50 yards, as well as its carbon fiber tension barrel. The barrel reduces the overall weight of the rifle and also includes a 1/2×28 threaded muzzle. There are 16″, 18″ and 20″ barrel variants also available to choose from. With these barrel lengths theres also two different handguard lengths including a 10½” and 14″.
When adding optics you can also choose 0, 20, 40, 60 MOA picatinny rail options for the top of the rifle chassis. The chassis has a carbon fiber handguard with M-LOK attachments and includes length of pull and cheek comb height adjustment. To help transport the stock is folding, which makes it a compact setup. The rifle comes in Black, Desert Brown and Tungsten colours.
If that customisation wasn’t enough there’s a Rem700 trigger footprint in the rifle, so the trigger can easily be swapped out for what ever your shooting style needs. There is however a TriggerTech trigger included in the rifle out of the box which is a massive appeal. For ease of use it uses the common Ruger BX-1 magazines which are easy to source and reliable.
