Scandinavian Arms have teamed up with Schmidt & Bender to produce a cheaper version of the gold standard in optics, the 5-25×56 PM II. The new optic called the LRS, or Light Recoil Scope was first unveiled in Germany at the IWA 2023 exhibition.
Quick Take
The Scandinavian Arms SA15 makes the most sense when its handling, configuration and practical role match what you actually want to do with it. Specs matter, but ergonomics and setup matter just as much.
- Best use case: judge it against rifles or shotguns built for the same job.
- Check before buying: weight, trigger, magazine system, optic mounting and aftermarket support.
- Think system-first: optic, mount, bipod, case and ammunition often matter as much as the firearm itself.
Schmidt & Bender PM II’s are one of the most renowned premium optics available and retail between 3500 and 5000 USD. The Scandinavian Arms LRS will be released at around the 2700 USD price mark.

Scandinavian Arms state the following:
The LRS is the result of a unique collaboration between Schmidt & Bender and Scandinavian Arms to offer the best optical sight for competition shooters around the world.
Trough our years as competition shooters, SA recognised the need to make better optics available to a wider audience.
True testing and a meticulous evaluation process we decided to build our scope around Schmidt & Benders true and trusted 5-25x56PMII scope. The benchmark for the industry in terms of optical quality and mechanical reliability.
The new LRS is developed to be a scope for a broad range of competition shooting, from Airguns to Long Range firearms and while the LRS meets the present needs of the competition shooters its features and specs are carefully tuned to make it available to a wider audience.

Some of the more important specifications of the Scandinavian Arms LRS 5-25×56 have been released which help show how the price has been cut from the regular retail price of a PM II.

FAQ
Who is the Scandinavian Arms SA15 best suited to?
The Scandinavian Arms SA15 makes the most sense for shooters looking at field or range use. Focus on the action type, stock or chassis layout, magazine system and overall weight before deciding whether it fits your style of shooting.
What should I compare with the Scandinavian Arms SA15?
Compare it with rifles built for the same job, not just rifles at the same price. Barrel profile, trigger quality, stock adjustability, magazine compatibility, spare parts and local support all matter.
What scope setup suits the Scandinavian Arms SA15?
Match the optic to the rifle’s intended use. A lighter hunting rifle usually wants a simpler, lighter scope, while a precision or target rifle can justify more magnification, better turrets and a more detailed reticle.
