Choose a KUIU jacket by how you move and when you stop. Guide PRO is the active softshell option; Super Down PRO is carried insulation for cold stops. Burner and Arktuk are much heavier-duty answers for severe stationary cold. Buying the warmest parka makes little sense if most of the day is spent climbing.

Best for extreme cold: KUIU Super Down Arktuk Parka
Arktuk is a specialist expedition parka, not an all-round winter jacket. Its longer coverage, reinforced shell and listed 1.97 kg weight need to solve a genuine cold-exposure problem to justify the space it takes in a pack.
I would only shortlist it for prolonged exposure in severe cold. For an ordinary Australian winter trip, start by comparing the lighter layers and your actual stationary time.
Best packable parka for severe stationary cold: KUIU Burner Parka
The Burner Parka is the jacket that makes the most sense for people who want serious cold-weather performance but do not necessarily need an expedition-style piece. It is still a very warm jacket, but it sits in a spot that feels a bit more realistic for a lot of late-season hunts.
If your main priority is staying warm on cold hunts and you do not care about shaving weight, the Burner is one of the stronger options in the KUIU lineup.
Best lightweight option: KUIU Super Down Pro Jacket
The Super Down Pro makes the most sense if you want warmth without carrying a massive parka everywhere. It is the more practical option if you need an insulating jacket that can actually live in the pack until you need it.
It is not the jacket I would pick for the most brutal cold on its own, but it is the easiest KUIU insulation piece to justify if you want something lighter and more versatile.
Best active-hunting softshell: KUIU Guide PRO
Guide PRO is the current softshell to compare for active, cool-weather use. It offers wind and water resistance rather than the loft of a down parka or the full protection of a rain shell.
