Looking for the fuller RS.3 review? Read the more complete Maven RS.3 5-30×50 FFP deep-dive here. This page now works best as a shorter first-look companion.

Maven Optics are a direct to customer optics company based out of Lander, Wyoming. Having used both spotting scopes and binoculars from Maven I have been impressed with the build quality of their optics and the clarity of their glass.

Quick Take

The Maven Optics is best judged by how it fits the rifle, not just by the spec sheet. Glass quality, reticle design, controls, mounting height and real-world use matter more than chasing one big headline number.

  • Best use case: match the optic to the rifle?s actual job before worrying about brand hype.
  • Check before buying: reticle style, eye relief, turret feel, weight and mounting requirements.
  • Do not forget the mount: good rings and correct height are part of the optic system.

Weighing in at 26.9 oz / 762g the optic is considered lightweight compared to other optics within this magnification range. The light weight is truly a strength to the long range hunter who counts every ounce on their rifle setup.

Other features worth noting include the optic being in the first focal plane, meaning that holdovers will be correct at any magnification that the scope is on.  The RS.3 also includes a zerostop.

Reticles Maven Optics

The RS.3 is priced at $1600USD/$2900AUD which throws it up against some well established competition however the features and quality build make the RS.3 standout from the crowd.

The strengths for the RS .3 from Maven are the overall light weight, high magnification range, zerostop and the low price for all the features.

Who is the Maven Optics best suited to?

It suits shooters who want an optic for hunting, long-range shooting and are willing to choose based on real features rather than brand name alone. Check the reticle, turret layout, weight and warranty before deciding.

What should I compare with the Maven Optics?

Compare it against optics in the same role and price bracket. Look closely at glass clarity, turret tracking, reticle usability, low-light performance, weight and how easy it is to get support or accessories locally.
