Its no secret that Tikka rifles are one of the most popular off the shelf choices that people immediately throw into a chassis. Tikka have read the room and released a new series of rifles that come out of the box in a chassis. The Tikka Ace series has three main variants, the T1x Ace, T3x Ace and T3x Ace Game.
Quick Take
The Tikka T3x Ace makes the most sense when its handling, configuration and practical role match what you actually want to do with it. Specs matter, but ergonomics and setup matter just as much.
- Best use case: judge it against rifles or shotguns built for the same job.
- Check before buying: weight, trigger, magazine system, optic mounting and aftermarket support.
- Think system-first: optic, mount, bipod, case and ammunition often matter as much as the firearm itself.

The T3x target model features a heavy barrel helping to eliminate vibration withstand heat. The magazine release button is built into the trigger guard, making magazine changes a little easier. The Ace Target model also has an interchangeable magwell that allows compatibility with different magazine types.

The T3x target is available in .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .223 Remington. As it’s got a lot of appeal for competitions I feel this is a missed opportunity to offer the target model in 6mm Creedmoor or 6mm GT. There is a separate rimfire variant that comes in 17 HMR and 22 LR. The T3x Ace Game has some larger calibers available including .300 Win Mag and 7mm PRC.
Tikka state that there is optional Cerakote options available also but no exact details on colours yet, I can see a brown and black variant listed online so far.

The new series from Tikka could be a good fit for NRL Hunter and Factory competition categories. The only improvement I would have liked to see would be the inclusion of some more calibers in the 6mm category. I’ll be keeping an eye out for these to hit the shelves here in Australia so I can get hands on and see how their put together.

FAQ
Who is the Tikka T3x Ace best suited to?
The Tikka T3x Ace makes the most sense for shooters looking at field or range use. Focus on the action type, stock or chassis layout, magazine system and overall weight before deciding whether it fits your style of shooting.
What should I compare with the Tikka T3x Ace?
Compare it with rifles built for the same job, not just rifles at the same price. Barrel profile, trigger quality, stock adjustability, magazine compatibility, spare parts and local support all matter.
What scope setup suits the Tikka T3x Ace?
Match the optic to the rifle’s intended use. A lighter hunting rifle usually wants a simpler, lighter scope, while a precision or target rifle can justify more magnification, better turrets and a more detailed reticle.
