The current AI page also displays 6.2kg, 1155mm open and 940mm folded in an accessory section for a stated 24in configuration. Because those figures do not exactly match the main specification panel, buyers should confirm the dimensions and included parts for the exact Standard or Comp/Pro SKU being quoted.
Even the lower published weight is substantial once a scope, mount, bipod and magazine are fitted. In a competition rifle, that is not automatically a disadvantage: mass and balance can help observation and positional stability. It does mean the AT-XC should not be judged as a general carry rifle.

The Standard is not an inferior action. Its appeal is paying for the base sporting configuration and adding only the pieces that solve a real setup requirement. The interface can accept the folding-hinge accessory, and the long bridge is available as a factory option.
The Comp/Pro makes sense when the included long bridge, folding hinge, rear grip and external weights already match the intended competition format. Buying those pieces separately can erase an apparent saving on the Standard. Compare complete quotes, not only the entry price.
Match rules also matter. AI presents Comp/Pro as a Factory / Limited Division configuration, but division definitions belong to the relevant match organisation and can change. Confirm the current rule set before ordering a rifle around a particular division name.

The current sporting table lists a 1-in-8 twist for 6.5 Creedmoor and 1-in-10 for .308 Winchester. Plain/threaded barrels use 5/8 x 24 UNEF in the listed configurations, while the AI tactical-brake versions use an 18 x 1.5mm thread.
Quickloc allows barrel removal and refitting with the hex key stored under the cheekpiece. That makes barrel replacement and a supported calibre or length change more practical, but it does not turn the rifle into a no-check conversion. Correct components, safe function, zero and velocity must all be reconfirmed.
The calibre decision should follow the actual match and practice environment. 6.5 Creedmoor offers lower recoil and a more forgiving long-range trajectory for much competition use. .308 Winchester can suit divisions, training requirements or shooters who value broad ammunition familiarity. Neither choice compensates for poor wind calls or an unconfirmed ballistic profile.

Action, Bolt, Safety and Trigger
The next-generation AT-XC action uses six lugs, a 60-degree bolt lift and an enlarged handle. The lower lift can provide useful optic clearance and shorter hand movement, while the larger handle is intended to reduce the effort needed to run the action from a supported position. Those are design observations, not a measured comparison with an earlier AT-X.
Its three-position safety separates a locked-bolt position from a safe position in which the bolt can still be lifted. That is a practical arrangement when unloading. As with any unfamiliar rifle, the owner should learn the positions and verify operation with the rifle unloaded rather than assuming the control works like another AI model.
AI offers its standard two-stage trigger or the XTSP AI competition trigger, both adjustable for reach. Trigger choice should be based on a safe, repeatable break and the intended rule set. A very light pull is not a substitute for fitting trigger reach, grip and stock length correctly.
Chassis, Balance and Supported Shooting
The non-bonded action is bolted into a low-profile 7075 aluminium chassis. Minimising height over bore can help the rifle sit more directly behind the support system. The lower forend incorporates an RRS/ARCA-style tripod interface, and the front face is machined as a barricade support.
The forend is approximately 397mm long with a listed overall interface length of 445mm, and it accepts KeySlot accessories. Short and long bridges can add upper-rail space and barrel protection. Before buying accessory rails, confirm KeySlot compatibility rather than assuming an M-LOK part will attach directly.
Internal, external and stackable 0.227kg weights allow the balance point and bag contact to be tuned. Weight should be added for a measured purpose: moving the balance toward the desired support point, reducing disturbance through recoil or widening bag contact. Adding every available weight can make transitions and unsupported handling worse.

The Quickloc system should also be evaluated with a documented removal and refit procedure. Record any zero offset rather than describing the result as “perfect” from memory. Bolt effort and trigger feel should be compared from the shoulder against a known rifle, because cycling an empty action at a shop counter reveals little about positional use.
Until those observations exist for this specific rifle, the responsible conclusion is about design and fit: the AT-XC has a coherent competition-focused architecture, but individual accuracy, reliability and handling still depend on the supplied rifle, ammunition and setup.
