Wilson Combat has added a new line of replacement barrels for Remington 700-pattern actions, giving owners another option when a factory barrel is due for replacement or a rifle is being rebarrelled. The initial range includes .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor configurations, with additional Creedmoor chamberings announced as forthcoming.
Launch configurations
Wilson Combat’s current product listings show three barrels: a 20-inch .308 Winchester with a 1:10 twist, plus 20- and 22-inch 6.5 Creedmoor barrels with a 1:8 twist. Each is listed at US$399.95. The company’s announcement says .25 Creedmoor and .22 Creedmoor versions are planned, but they are not among the three listed launch products.
The barrels use button-rifled, honed 416R stainless-steel blanks. Wilson says the blanks are stress-relieved both before and after rifling. The profile follows the standard Remington factory contour, intended to fit factory-contour stocks and compatible chassis without additional inletting. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and has a recessed crown; a low-glare Armor-Tuff finish is also offered.
Important fitting detail
These are not presented as a simple screw-on barrel swap. Wilson says the chamber is cut ready for final headspacing and that gunsmith installation is required. That means the rifle’s action, chamber and final headspace need to be handled by a qualified gunsmith; buyers should confirm the exact fit and configuration for their particular Remington 700-pattern action before ordering.
The factory-contour approach may appeal to owners who want to retain an existing stock or chassis rather than rebuild the rifle around a heavier custom profile. The available lengths also keep the initial range focused on practical hunting and precision-rifle setups, rather than offering a wide menu of contours and lengths from the outset.
